Inconel 690 (UNS N06690, W.Nr 2.4642) is a high-chromium nickel alloy with about 29% chromium, giving excellent resistance to oxidising acids, oxidising salts and hot sulphur-bearing gases, and very good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in high-temperature water. Inconel 690 is the step up from Inconel 600 when the environment is more oxidising. Its higher chromium content resists nitric acid, nitric-hydrofluoric pickling mixtures and hot oxidising gases far better than 600.
