Hastelloy C-4 (UNS N06455, W.Nr 2.4610) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with very low carbon and silicon and a small titanium addition, developed for outstanding high-temperature stability. It resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the 650–1040 °C range, so it keeps its ductility and corrosion resistance after welding, stress relief or other thermal exposure. C-4 is the C-family alloy for fabrications that will see heat after welding, for example parts that must be stress-relieved, hot-formed or used at intermediate temperatures. Its general corrosion resistance is broadly similar to C276, but its stability is better. If thermal history is not a concern, C276 or C22 may be easier to source; we will advise.
