Nickel 200 (UNS N02200, W.Nr 2.4066) and Nickel 201 (UNS N02201, W.Nr 2.4068) are commercially pure wrought nickel, at least 99% Ni, prized for resistance to caustic alkalis, neutral and distilled water, and many food and chemical products. Nickel 201 is the low-carbon version, with carbon held to 0.02% maximum, so it can be used above about 315 °C without embrittlement. The choice between Nickel 200 and 201 is mainly about temperature. Nickel 200 is fine for most service up to about 315 °C; above that, the higher carbon in 200 can precipitate as graphite and embrittle the metal, so 201 is specified. For caustic soda evaporators and concentrators, 201 is the common choice. We can confirm which grade suits your process.

Pure nickel offers outstanding resistance to caustic soda and other alkalis, high thermal and electrical conductivity, good ductility and magnetic properties, and a low gas content. It is easy to form, weld and fabricate, which makes it practical for vessels and tubing.

Nickel 200 and 201 are specified for caustic alkalis, high-purity products and conductive or magnetic parts.
