Titanium Grade 2 (UNS R50400, W.Nr 3.7035) is commercially pure titanium and the most widely used titanium grade in industry. It offers excellent resistance to seawater, chlorides, wet chlorine, hypochlorite and many oxidising acids, a density only about 57% that of steel, and good formability and weldability. Grade 2 is the default titanium for corrosion service because it balances strength, ductility and cost. If you need higher strength, alloyed grades exist, and if you face hot reducing acids, palladium-bearing grades may be considered; these are quoted on enquiry only. Why Choose Titanium Gr 2?

Titanium Grade 2 resists pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater and chloride solutions, does not suffer chloride stress-corrosion cracking in normal service, and forms a stable protective oxide film. Its low density and good fatigue strength save weight in long-life equipment.

Applications:

Titanium Grade 2 is chosen where seawater, chlorides or wet chlorine would corrode stainless steel and copper alloys.

Heat Exchangers: Seawater-cooled condenser tubes, plate heat-exchanger plates and tube sheets.
Chemical Processing: Chlor-alkali cells, chlorine dioxide equipment, vessels and piping in oxidising media.

Grade 2 comes as B265 sheet and plate for linings and tube sheets, strip, discs and circles, B348 bar for machined parts, B861/B862 pipe for cooling lines, and other forms on request. Sizes on request.
